(LinkedIn) Perfection isn’t the goal… Excellence is.
PART TWO: Effort is Clear. Trust the Effort of the Individual
11 Ways to Positively Transform Corporate Workplace Culture in 2025: Brought to you by Shannon Knelsen & Yung Pueblo (P. 2/11)
I came across the piece of content below by Yung Pueblo while mindlessly doom scrolling the other day, and I had the sudden realization that so much of how we navigate work life and “corporate workplace culture” can be directly translated into maintaining healthy, mindful relationships—whether with others or with ourselves.
As leaders, our role isn’t to micromanage how our employees show up to life—it’s to create environments where they can show up as their best selves, no matter what that looks like for them. Who are we to judge?
I've come to accept the notion that "perfection is not the goal... but excellence is." My version of excellence is not your version of excellence. My level of ability to perform, and create new ideas the way I do, is not something that a lot of people can bend their mind around. Most of the time, I can't even explain how I am able to do the things I do... I just do them.
The millennial and Gen X generations have been raised to struggle with work-life balance, navigating a system that often prioritizes output over well-being. But the truth is, when goals are met, performance is consistent, and work is accomplished, we need to trust the effort our people are putting in—on their terms.
Flexibility in the workday, work-from-home arrangements, and a results-based approach are not “nice-to-haves.” They’re the future of leadership, and the workforce. It’s not about squeezing individuals into a one-size-fits-all box; it’s about recognizing that everyone’s journey is different and allowing them to navigate it in their own way.
Let’s stop focusing on controlling the how and start trusting the who. After all, as we discussed last time -- trust is the foundation of any thriving team.
